  • * All times are in BST / UTC+1. This is a provisional programme and subject to change.

  • Brazil has almost 34 million unbanked individuals, most of them are female and living in remote and poor areas. Open Banking will lead to greater cooperation between the banking system and the fintechs, leading to a plethora of fresh and accessible financial services and products – attracting new users into the financial system.
  • The opportunity for Brazilian fintechs is massive. In 2020, they achieved US$ 1.7b in investments in 90 deals as opposed to US$ 910m in 2019 (Distrito). They also took third place behind the US and China for the amount of mega-rounds (US$ 100m+) closed. Traditional players won’t be able to cover all the new ground Open Banking will open up – making a great place for fintechs to play.
  • The proposed changes by the Brazil Central Bank should promote transformations more effective than those in Europe and the UK – meaning Brazil could become the world’s new reference on Open Banking. (Roland Berger).

A final word from Helen
